January 22 - Service to the Sick
|
Every month on the 4th Sunday of the month, our teenagers gather to do service and reach out to the needy in our community. This month, our mission is to serve the sick - particularly sick children.

Description:
As Charles Schulz's Linus character from the PEANUTS® comic strip was comforted by his blanket, Project Linus strives to do the same and more for children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. The blankets collected from thousands of volunteers across the United States are then distributed to these children provide love, a sense of security, warmth, and comfort.
The teens worked on created 5 different fleece blankets to donate to the Fox Valley Chapter of Project Linus while we watched the movie Patch Adams.
Taking It Further:
The supplies for each blanket costs around $20. Consider making a family donation to CYO to cover the cost of our supplies, or head to Hobby Lobby and pick up your own supplies and make a blanket as a family. ProjectLinus.org has blanket instructions and patterns as well as contact information for our local chapter. |
