The power of prayer and service allows the fullness of the Gospel to come to life. Jesus promises us that he will not leave us alone. With the grace of God, we can change our lives toward becoming more like Jesus every day. Reaching out to others who are lost, hurting, or estranged, brings this message of hope to others. This powerful focus brings hope to the hopeless. Join with us as we grow this ministry so close to Jesus.

 

The legend is told that a distant king begged Jesus to come and heal him. Jesus was unable to come so he pressed his face to a cloth. After Jesus had died and risen, St. Jude was entrusted with the cloth. He brought it to the king, touched the king with the cloth, and it healed him. The king had a medal made copying the image of Christ in the cloth and St. Jude carried this medal with him on his missionary journeys. We as St. Jude parish are also called to bring the healing of Christ to those around us. Here are some of the ways we do that:

 


Bereavement Team

The Bereavement Team provides support to families and guests before, during, and after funerals.

Marriage Annulment Committee

It is important to continue to support those who have divorced and need to find closure in their lives. This group will be trained to work with individuals who wish to receive an annulment from the church.

Elder Care Ministry

This ministry team continues to reach out to our 'mature' parishioners. joins us with great ideas for prayer and support.

Eucharist to the Homebound

Parishioners are needed to take Communion to the home-bound and those who are recovering from an illness or surgery in their homes. Training will be provided.

Home-bound or Nursing Home Visitor

Do you have the time to visit someone who is home-bound or in a nursing home? We provide Care Ministry training for those who visit our parish members.

Transportation Ministers

Ministers provide rides to Mass and other activities for fellow parishioners who are not able to drive. Please consider adding your name to our list, and we will call you when needed.

Prayer Team

A phone call to the Parish Office or Deacon Fred Fischer insures that prayer intentions are offered to God through church services for the week (more if specified). A list of people to be prayed for is also located at the southwest door of the church building.

Involvement: Read/listen to the prayer intention and devote a portion of our prayer life to the needs of others.

Prayer Chain

Let your number be part of a series of phone calls that insures the prayer intentions on the Prayer Chain are offered up to God.

Serra Club

Serra Club members meet twice a month and are involved in supporting religious vocations. Parishioners can also become involved in Friends of Serra by volunteering to work at functions, such as the Christmas party or summer picnic for ht sisters, priests, and seminarians, and/or by writing letters of encouragements or cards for birthdays, retirements or other notable dates.

Time commitment: Serra Club members meet at Franciscan Courts the second an fourth Friday every month beginning with mass at 11:00 am, followed by lunch and a speaker/program. Friends of Serra are welcome to attend.

Legion of Mary

The legion of Mary is a worldwide organization. The goal for the Legion members is to fain holiness and become better Christians by a balanced program of prayer and works.

Involvement: Every week, active members are required to perform two hours of some specified apostolic work or bring Christto others. Some of the work consists of: visiting and taking communion to the sick and home-bound, leading the rosary withresidents at a nursing home, and going to the prison to say the rosary with some of th inmates each week.

Time Commitment: The Legion of Mary meets every Tuesday at 1:30 pm in the Parish Center for prayers, the rosary, spiritual reading, and to report on the work assigend at the previous meeting.

Marian Prayer Night

This Prayer Group was inspired by our Blessed Mother and the Holy Spirit on September 17, 1991, to have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in church to pray for peace in our families, our community, and our world.

Involvement/Time Commitment: We begin at 6:30 pm Tuesday evenings at the Knapp St. Site. We pray consecrations to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, have exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, a few minutes of quiet time, and then pray three rosaries. One can come and go as their time permits.
